The purchase of Water Direct in March 2022 by investment group Soris Capital Partners, represents an exciting phase in the continued growth of the company, now under the leadership of new CEO Adam Johnson.
Adam Johnson: CEO
Jonathan West: MD
Adam is native of Texas and graduate of the prestigious London Business School. He brings strong management and business development experience including General Manager for North America of Voxbone (now Bandwidth Inc.). Subsequently, as Managing Partner of Soris, he gathered a group of experienced investors to search for a successful UK business to purchase, manage and grow.
Providing strategic guidance and support to Adam and the existing team, the Board of Directors features a group of seasoned individuals, including Andy Smith (previously of Severn Trent Water) in the role of Chairman.
“Water Direct is unique – it has fantastic, loyal customers and performs extremely well. I’m thrilled to be joining the talented and dedicated team at a pivotal moment in the company’s journey”, Adam says.
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our customers, partners, and team, without whom we would not have been able to celebrate such remarkable success over the last few years.”
“I would also like to thank Jonathan West who has led the company as Managing Director since 2014. While he will be stepping back from his leadership role, we will be working together over the coming months to ensure seamless transition and continuation of the exceptional service that Water Direct is known for.”
What's Next?
The Water Direct team is now honing its strategy by leveraging a deep understanding of its customers’ needs, earned over 26 years as the experts at the heart of the temporary and alternative water supply industry. Water Direct’s services will become increasingly important as demand continues to increase and environmental, social, and economic factors continue to apply increasing pressure to the UK water network.
In addition to its unmatched capability to deliver water wherever and whenever needed, the company intends to focus further on collaborative, proactive and preventative initiatives with utility, commercial and industrial partners. One area of focus will be additional efforts in collaboration with water-critical businesses, to develop effective contingency and disaster recovery plans.
These proactive measures will help businesses understand their reliance upon water, the likelihood of unplanned interruptions and how to mitigate the related risk. By coupling these actions with practical solutions for the introduction of alternative supply, Water Direct aims to raise awareness of water supply interruption as a critical business continuity theme.
“We have a lot to offer our customers, and we encourage government, industry bodies, advisory groups and customers to engage in collaborative discussion about actionable water continuity plans.” suggests Adam.
“To quote the words of Benjamin Franklin: When the well is dry, we will know the true worth of water…” he concludes.
