Our Quality & Compliance Administrator, Bianca Geraghty took the time over the Christmas and New Year break, to visit those who are less fortunate.
Before Christmas, Bianca began collecting donations from her colleagues at Water Direct for any warm clothes, blankets, gloves, hats and food that they were able to offer.
Bianca and her family took to the streets of Chelmsford, Essex for four hours in the rain to donate the goodwill packs they had put together. Each pack contained sandwiches, biscuits, crisps, flapjacks, chocolate and fruit juices, as well as fleece blankets, gloves and socks.
Bianca commented:
” We were out for four hours and, even though it rained, we managed to help 15 homeless people in total! They all showed amazing gratitude and wanted to thank Water Direct for donating the warm clothes.
Some of their stories they told us were heart-breaking, with this being the first Christmas and winter on the streets for some of them.
This really did give them a little boost and just taking 15 minutes to talk to them clearly meant a lot.”
At the end of the day, there was still a big bag of clothes left over which were donated to CHESS, a small charity that has given help and support to hundreds of homeless people in the local area since it was launched more than 20 years ago.
It’s great to see a member of our team going out of their way to support those in need within the local community and engaging with the rest of our staff members to collect donations.
