Water Direct, an organisation that delivers more than 19 million bottles of water to businesses and households across the UK every year, is committed to sustainability and continual investment in recyclable solutions. Let’s have a look what they are during this recycle week.
Supporting a sustainable future
We supply the majority of our bottled water to household customers in two-litre bottles. That is how water utility companies support their customers during water outages.
We supplied over 19 million bottles of water in 2022. We aim to minimize the environmental impact with recycled and recyclable products.
Last year, the UK Plastics Pact set out several goals for businesses to achieve by 2025, including for ‘100% of plastic packaging to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable’ and for ‘an average of 30% recycled content across all plastic packaging’. Many of the UK’s leading brands have already committed to the UK Plastics Pact, leading to a step-change shift in packaging standards.
At Water Direct, we are proud to say we are ahead of the curve. We are only using bottles that are 100% recyclable and produced with a minimum of 50% recycled plastic. We help customers meet their environmental goals by innovating our bottled water solutions.
Plastic-Free Alternatives from Water Direct
Here is a refresher on Water Direct’s plastic-free alternatives for single use water supply. They stand out for all the right reasons.
CanO Water
1. Aluminium is an exceptional material for recycling. You can retain its properties through endless recycling. CanO Water cans consist of a minimum of 70% recycled material. After use, the can continues its cycle of recycling and reuse. Choose between re-sealing with caps or going 100% plastic-free with ring pulls.
Aqube
2. Popular in the events industry, our 1,000-litre Aqube, provides a supply of drinking water in a 100% recyclable container. Once you use the water inside, the Aqube simply folds down. Then, it's ready for local recycling. This eliminates the need to transport it after use. It also further reduces its carbon footprint. Water Direct also has a complete Event Recycling Kit for event organisers to collect and bag plastic waste for recycling
Aquapax
3. Aquapax Water Cartons bring an impressive level of innovation. It is made from at least 75% plant-based materials. These include FSC Certified paper and a cap made from renewable sugar cane. Not only are they leak-proof and refillable, but these cartons are also 100% recyclable.
At Water Direct, we don’t stop at plastic, we’re always looking for the best recyclable solutions. Follow us on LinkedIn to find out more about our environmental and community initiatives.
