The UK water network is among the best in the world, regularly providing clean drinking water at the turn of a tap.

For more than 20 years, many of the UK’s water utility companies have relied on Water Direct as their alternative water supplier. We provide support during both unexpected interruptions and planned maintenance work, helping to maintain the highest level of customer service.

We work as an active partner to water wholesalers to ensure there are appropriate plans in place to manage water supply incidents, including adequate contracted levels of response and effective escalation plans. We encourage our wholesaler partners to be proactive in planning alternative water supplies in advance, including bottled water and pre-arranged tankers to be provided to areas of need during an incident.

Covering the whole of the UK, our solutions include emergency bottled water, bulk tankers to transport water to reservoirs and the management and deployment of temporary water bowsers and static tanks.

We operate the largest commercial fleet of dedicated drinking water tankers in the UK which is able to pump straight into the mains network, creating a surrogate, pressurised supply when required.

The cornerstone of our contracted service is our unique Nationwide Bottled Water Bank, a quality assured stock of over three million litres of bottled drinking water for emergency use. The stock is located at depots across the UK, managed and deployed by us to enable swift delivery wherever and whenever it’s needed.

We can set up manned bottled water stations and can also offer doorstep deliveries of bottled water to vulnerable customers as an extension to our bulk deliveries to specific locations.

We are committed to supporting the water company body Water UK in its work across the sector in developing more effective planning for the sourcing and distribution of bottled water supplies as well as consideration of other alternative water supply solutions.

There are increasing expectations on water utility companies and a growing need to demonstrate appropriate and scalable solutions. With proactive and positive communications, our team of experts collaborates with our water utility wholesale partners on the development of plans for the provision, delivery and management of alternative water supplies. In addition, we can provide support for planned maintenance work including water for pressure testing, ice pigging, network maintenance and periods of peak demand.

All water and equipment provided by Water Direct is quality assured and this is crucially important for our water utility partners. DWI states that (Water Supply Water Quality) Regulations apply when bottled water is provided as an alternative to the usual piped supply. Water Direct can demonstrate conformity to these standards through unique monitoring, control and sampling systems.
